Northern Beaches Council has announced the exhibition of a new draft Youth Voice Action Plan 2028 – Shaping the Beaches Future, which is now available for public feedback.

Following an extensive consultation with more than 1,000 young people contributing over 1,100 comments, the new draft plan is understood to highlight young people’s current experiences of participation across the Northern Beaches in community life.

Across four strategic directions, the draft plan provides the evidence base and actions for how Council, young people, the youth services sector and the broader community can work to achieve positive change for young people living in the community.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan said the purpose of the plan is to outline actions over the next five years for youth development that will support and engage young people to participate in community life.

“Our young people reflect their surroundings and broader social and cultural norms, but also give us a glimpse into the future,” he said.

“To allow us to remain a thriving, vibrant and relevant community, we need to listen and act on their advice and ideas.”
