The Willoughby Emerging Art Prize is back after a 19-year hiatus! Artists between five and 15 years into their artistic practice are encouraged to submit their work. The prize aims to celebrate emerging artists across Australia as well as across a range of contemporary art forms.
All visual art mediums are accepted as entries, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and printmaking. Submitted works need to have been completed within the last two years.
The return of the Willoughby Emerging Art Prize, formerly known as the Willoughby Art Prize, stems from Willoughby City Council’s renewed commitment to supporting the next generation of creatives. The prize first started in 1983 as a council-supported arts initiative.
This year, supported by the Civic Place Trust, a prize pool of $15,000 is up for grabs.
Entries are open now until 31 August, with winners to be announced at the opening night held on 8 October at the Art Space Gallery.
The exhibition will run from 9 October to 1 November at the Art Space Gallery at The Concourse in Chatswood.
