The transition to electric buses is surging ahead in the Northern Beaches. The Brookvale Bus Depot will be one of the first to be converted for electric charging as a part of a $3 billion spend by the NSW Government into Zero Emission Buses.

Member for Manly James Griffin MP said the upgrade would make for more comfortable trips and will help the economy.

“The NSW Government’s investment will make our state a global leader and will also deliver benefits to the NSW economy by supporting local jobs, as we ramp up bus production in NSW.

“By 2047, when the NSW Government’s bus fleet will be fully transitioned, our carbon emissions are estimated to be reduced by 509,000 tonnes a year,” said Mr Griffin.

The upgrade will be implemented alongside the Willoughby, North Sydney and other depots across NSW.

Currently, Transport for NSW is operating Australia’s largest Zero Emission Bus fleet, with more than 100 buses in service.
