The Boardriders Inclusive Classic is an event for every surfer’s diary, and it’s back again for 2025, taking place at Mona Vale Beach on 1 March, when adaptive surfers of all ages will unite for a day of competition and camaraderie.

Organised by Northern Beaches Para Surfer Boardriders and Mona Vale Boardriders, the annual event is key in raising awareness for adaptive surfing as well as being a crucial fundraiser for both clubs, raising over $12,000 in 2024.

The clubs are reaching out to local businesses for monetary sponsorship (any amount greatly appreciated towards event costs) or lucky door prizes (such as vouchers or merchandise).

Adaptive surfing allows those facing challenges to get out on the water, and community support encourages family and friends to lead their loved ones back to the ocean.

“It’s fantastic to have the general surfing community involved,” says Em Dieters. “Showing them what we can achieve as para surfers.”

It’s also about empowering future generations and building a strong network of para surfers to mentor young participants so Australia can build a national team to represent us if para surfing is included in the Paralympics in Brisbane in 2032.
