Northern Beaches Council’s Meals on Wheels team has been rewarded for its dedication to the community and the NSW Meals on Wheels Association. At the recent Annual General Meeting of the NSW Meals on Wheels Association, the council was honoured with the prestigious ‘Helping Hands’ award.

This award is a testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to promoting the Meals on Wheels service within the community. The staff’s remarkable efforts include facilitating corporate volunteering opportunities with Reckitt and Bank of Canada, distributing donated goods to clients and volunteers, promoting waste reduction initiatives, and supporting the broader mission of the NSW Meals on Wheels Association.

The Meals on Wheels service provided by the council plays a vital role in delivering tasty and nutritious meals to residents over 65 or those over 50 who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Additionally, the dedicated staff and volunteers offer valuable social interaction and connection to those who may be socially isolated.

Beyond nourishment, the team delivers compassion, companionship, and a genuine ‘helping hand’ to older members of our community. This recognition highlights the invaluable service they provide, making a significant difference in the lives of many.
