The Australian-first Adolescent and Young Adult Hospice (AYAH) in Manly has welcomed its first patient.

Twenty-year-old Jamieson Leeson is spending two weeks at the new waterfront AYAH where she is receiving holistic and specialised respite care. She is also a Paralympian boccia player and currently studying a Bachelor of Economics at the University of New South Wales

Member for Manly James Griffin extended a warm welcome to the hospice’s first patient.

“The beautiful location on the former Manly Hospital site now provides patients and families with a tranquil space at some of the most difficult of times,” Mr Griffin said.

The AYAH development has been made possible through generous donations from the community and funding committed by the NSW and Australian governments.

The NSW Government is investing a record $11.9 billion in health infrastructure over the four years to 2025-26. Since 2011, has delivered more than 180 health capital projects across NSW, with more than 130 projects currently underway.
