Northern Beaches Council is calling upon all green thumbs and people passionate about gardening to volunteer some of their time for the ‘Greening Our City’ initiative.
Run as a joint initiative between the NSW government and council, the next event for it will held on 22 March at Curl Curl Beach, where the plan is to plant 1000 trees, with 100 already in the soil. There is no booking or RSVP required to help, with everyone encouraged to make their way down at 1:00pm for the event.
Council has highlighted that this event is proof of their commitment to “maintaining and enhancing the Northern Beaches’ exceptional tree canopy and bush coverage”, adding that it will “make Curl Curl a cooler, greener, and more connected place for our community and wildlife.”
The event will run from 1pm to 5pm and volunteers will be expected to meet at Flora and Ritchie Roberts Reserve, Griffin Road. Further tree planting days taking place again at Curl Curl on 26 April and at Freshwater Beach on 27 July.
