Willoughby council voted unanimously to give mobile food vans and trucks an extra six month’s trading at zero cost in Bellambi Street Square in Northbridge as part of the trial use of the square.
Mayor Tanya Taylor proposed the extension at the council meeting on 24 June to allow the council time to develop a new policy concerning the ability of mobile food vans and trucks to use council land and public spaces.

Public space improvements are addressed in the Project and Capital Works program as part of the Local Centres Strategy. Bellambi Street Square has been trialling food trucks as part of a new public space created in the square.
Council will now request a draft policy on mobile food vans and trucks to be prepared within six months, after consulting local businesses, on using public land for mobile food businesses.
