Velma’s Pets as Therapy | Mona Vale
If you have a well-mannered pet, you could raise the spirits of vulnerable people by visiting a hospital, nursing home or another care facility.
If you understand the value of the human/animal bond, have a friendly pet that loves attention and have a few hours a fortnight to put a smile on people’s faces, you will enjoy being a Pets as Therapy volunteer.
Most facilities require visitors to have a flu shot and COVID-19 vaccination except for visiting groups or individuals outdoors. Pets will need to be assessed and the volunteer’s own vet using a specific checklist to ensure suitability for the visits.
