Willoughby city council and the Chatswood Chamber of Commerce have partnered in a bid to help local businesses apply for free business growth programs.

On Friday 14 October, a formal signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) took place between Willoughby Mayor Tanya Taylor and Chatswood Chamber of Commerce President Warwick Andison.

Mayor Taylor said the MOU and related accelerator program would help grow the local government area’s vibrant economy, which supports more than 12,000 businesses and 78,000 jobs.

“The MOU formalises the relationship between council and the Chatswood Chamber of Commerce and opens the door to greater opportunities for local businesses,” Mayor Taylor said.

In the first deliverable to flow from the MOU, council has partnered with the Chamber of Commerce and North Sydney-based business growth specialist BLD ACDMY to fund 15 accelerator program placements allocated to local businesses.

According to Willoughby city council, each placement is valued at more than $1,000 per business and will help with sales and marketing, people and performance, as well as strategy and goal setting.

Chatswood Chamber of Commerce President Warwick Andison agreed the MOU would help to bolster Chatswood’s business community as well has help the Chamber’s growth flow through members with plenty of ideas and potential new businesses for them.
