It’s set to be a rush in the city this weekend as runners take part in the TCS Sydney Marathon and other events on 30 to 31 August.

Organisers expect that 35,000 runners will take on the 42km course, which starts at early on Sunday morning at Miller Street in North Sydney, and finishes at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt. The race, which is now at capacity, is the newest member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, and people from around the world are expected to attend.

There is also a 10km event, which will take place on Sunday. Runners taking on the 10km course will tackle the Harbour Bridge before finishing at the Conservatorium of Music. This event is also at capacity.

Those still looking to register can join in the Mini Marathon, which takes place on Saturday and has a 5km CBD course finishing at the steps of the Opera House.

With more than 50,000 runners expected across the three events, this weekend running festival is sure to get a few hearts pumping!

There will be spectator hubs along the course, including one in The Rocks, where supporters can enjoy DJ music and spot their runner.

Road closures start from 2am on Sunday, and participants are advised to use public transport to get to and from the marathon.
