This year’s Fringe Festival offers theatre, circus and magic across the city

Sydney Fringe Festival has unveiled its 2025 program, featuring more than 460 events and over 2,900 artists across four precincts and 10 festival hubs this September.

Interim chief executive Patrick Kennedy said the program was the most expansive yet, bringing artists and audiences together across more venues and precincts than ever before.

“From the return of major hubs, to the highly anticipated reopening of the Eternity Playhouse, this year’s program pushes boundaries and spotlights new voices, inviting Sydneysiders to rediscover their city through unforgettable experiences.”

DOROTHY IN OZ

3 to 28 Sep | Cabaret Hub Marrickville Town Hall

Step into an immersive adventure combining L. Frank Baum’s beloved classic with interactive storytelling, live performance and stage magic. This production whisks audiences away to the magical land of Oz, where participants craft their own delectable concoctions, while exploring the whimsical world and meeting its characters. The unforgettable experience blends the wonder of the original book series with the excitement of audience participation and delightfully surprising magical moments. Performances include family-friendly matinee sessions with kid- friendly potions.

OPENING NIGHT STREET LANEWAY PARTY

4 Sep | The Rocks, Sydney

The Rocks comes alive for one free evening of electric roving performances, pop-up wonders and spine-tingling surprises around every corner. This totally free launch event invites audiences to follow the spectacle through historic laneways alive with sound, movement and mystery. The evening showcases the breadth of Sydney Fringe talent, with performances appearing unexpectedly throughout The Rocks’ cobblestone streets and hidden corners. This unmissable and unforgettable experience offers families a perfect introduction to the festival’s diverse programming.

A ONE MAN CIRCUS

6 Sep to 5 Oct | Entertainment Quarter The Bunker, Moore Park

Multi-award winning performer Morgan James delivers impossible circus acts with his signature quick wit in this family-friendly spectacle. After a lifetime of touring the world, James has created his greatest show yet: his one-man circus. Having performed for presidents, prime ministers and royalty, he now brings his skillful acts and hilarious comedy to Sydney audiences.

THE GIANT BALLOON SHOW

6 Sep to 12 Oct | Fool’s Paradise Entertainment Quarter, The Bunker, Moore Park

This award-winning global sensation combines everything audiences know about balloons with an award- winning entertainer and a 1980s soundtrack, twisted into hilarious family entertainment. Expect feverish balloon sculptures, high-energy comic performance and the all-important giant balloon finale that gives the show its name. THE GREATEST MAGIC SHOW
