Willoughby City Council is seeking feedback on its new draft guide for operating shared e-bike and e-scooter mobility services in a safe and equitable way.
Willoughby Council is committed to improving sustainable and accessible transport options across the LGA. As shared e-mobility devices such as e-bikes and scooters become more common, council is taking proactive steps to regulate their safe and responsible use on public land.
To support this, council has developed a Draft Shared Electric Mobility Operator Guidelines document which aims to ensure that shared e-mobility services operate in a way that is safe, equitable, and consistent with council’s broader transport, accessibility, and sustainability goals.
The standards, conditions, and approval processes are for shared e-mobility operators seeking to operate within the Willoughby local government area.
The guidelines will cover requirements on safety, insurance and compliance, footpath, and public space management to reduce clutter and prevent obstruction, integration with public transport, rules around parking, GPS tracking and incident reporting, and encouraging operators to promote public safety and environmental sustainability.
You can read the guidelines via council’s website and have your say by completing the online form by 10 August.
