Warm up your winter this June

The Rise Manly 10-day winter festival this June is guaranteed to warm the cockles of your heart and brighten up those chilly winter days.

The festival is a collaboration between Northern Beaches Council, Manly Business Chamber and Experience Manly and will bring together the best of local Manly businesses from 20 to 29 June.

“This festival is all about supporting local business in the traditionally quieter winter months,” Mayor Sue Heins says.

Local businesses will host indoor and outdoor activations like après ski parties, special hearty winter menus, music to warm the soul and activities to help you chill out. Council will also host activations throughout Manly’s beachfront, Corso and laneways, bringing a festival vibe.

Now, close your eyes, imagine you’ve had a blast on the ski slopes and you’re ready to party! Head to Manly Pavilion Ski Village for snow-dusted décor, soft lighting, and winter themed photo moments that feel straight out of Europe. Think vintage skis, cosy sheepskin rugs, crackling fireplaces, and warm timber details. Special winter-themed cocktails will feature delicious warming flavours and seasonal ingredients such as spiced citrus, dark berries, and warm cocktails with a twist.

Don’t miss the Après Ski Party at The Espy on the lower level of the precinct on 21 June from 4pm until late.

If you like op shopping, rug up and head to the Op for Change special festival pop-up bursting with pre-loved fashion, homewares and one-of-a-kind treasures, all supporting community causes.

The pop-up space will also host a program of community-led events that celebrate sustainability, style and self-expression. You can try your hand at creating upcycled jewellery, enjoy a drawing workshop, styling sessions and Create and Connect community craft. Everything is hands-on, low-waste and led by local makers and creatives.

Whether you’re a seasoned or curious op shopper, the Manly Sustainable Trail will take you off the beaten track to discover Manly’s best local preloved, vintage and eco-conscious businesses. Op for Change is also holding a charity art show with LocalKind on 26 June when you can enjoy a selection of artworks donated by local artists over light refreshments, with all proceeds going to LocalKind to support their community programs.

At Cibaria on 21 June, you can enjoy an afternoon of stories, flavour and passion as chefs Giovanni Pilu and Alessandro Pavoni offer an unforgettable afternoon where the restauranteurs regale of their journey from Italy to the Northern Beaches.

This rich and inspiring dialogue will be perfectly complemented by a welcome drink on arrival, followed by a three-course lunch, and unlimited still and sparkling water, taking place on the Terrazza overlooking the iconic Manly Beach, making it a true celebration of food, place and story.

So, rise up from the lounge, grab a jacket and beanie and celebrate winter!
