Wild weather whipped the Northern Beaches over the weekend and with more rain forecast, council is reminding residents to remain vigilant and check their local conditions online with the Northern Beaches Emergency Dashboard.

Weekend weather conditions saw SES Manly crews attend to a fallen tree and powerlines in Peronne Avenue, Clontarf; while a tree also fell, blocking Tooronga Road in Terrey Hills. The RFS Terrey Hills Brigade worked to clear blocked drains on Mona Vale Road, which was affecting traffic west of the St Ives Showground. The Wakehurst Parkway was also closed on Monday due to flooding, as was The Esplanade in Narrabeen.

The heavy rain also had an impact on local lagoons, with council stating on their website: “While the entrances to both Manly and Narrabeen Lagoon are open, water levels remain high due to the ocean conditions slowing the outflow.”

At the time of writing, the Bureau of Meteorology had issued a hazardous surf and strong wind warning for the Sydney coast.
