Surfers for Climate will host a special Layback Cinema evening this Wednesday to celebrate connection, community and the power of ocean joy.
Not only will the night feature the screening of two films, but there will also be a special panel discussion on Healthy Mind, Soul and Ocean, featuring Mackellar MP Sophie Scamps, to explore how staying connected to the sea and each other supports both mental health and a healthy ocean.
The community event, on 16 July at 7pm, will be held at Bombies, Harbord Hotel in Freshwater. It is a partnership between Surfers for Climate, MWP Community Care and Bombies.
The film, Granny Grommets will be shown, telling the story of a group of 90 women who meet every Friday for a bodyboard, and reflects on the healing and transformative power community and friendship provide in later life.
Surfers for Climate’s own short film, The Seed, will also be shown, following the innovative work of shaper Gary McNeill and surfer Dave Rastovich.
The event will be a celebration of connection, community and the power of ocean joy.
