The NSW Government has fast-tracked the $500 million Regional and Local Roads Repair Program to ensure potholed roads are repaired.

Member for Willoughby Tim James said Willoughby and North Sydney Councils can now apply for a share the funding to conduct urgent road repairs.

“My priority is to ensure our local roads are in the best condition possible so we can travel to and from work and leisure safely,” Mr James said.

All 128 councils are eligible for a one-off payment to help them fix roads that have been damaged by successive severe weather events throughout 2022.

Applications opened on 11 January 2023 and the money will start to drop into council bank accounts within weeks to ensure works get started as soon as possible. Councils need to make the application to Transport for NSW.

This injection of money is on top of existing funding and assistance to councils including the Regional Roads Block Grant program and NSW Disaster Assistance Arrangements.
