Northern Beaches council is getting ready to celebrate the largest LGBTQIA+ event as WorldPride 2023 makes its way down under from 17 February to 5 March.

Along with WorldPride hitting Australia for the first time, Sydney will also be first city in the southern hemisphere to be chosen to host the event.

As Sydney’s Mardi Gras Parade is also due to kick off on 25 February 2022,  it is understood WorldPride will be the biggest tourism drawcard and city-wide celebration since the 2000 Olympic Games.

Northern Beaches Mayor Michael Regan is thrilled to be involved in the international event and said council is unanimous in its commitment to inclusion, equity, and support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Council looks forward to providing this amazing cultural and tourism opportunity both on the Northern Beaches and for greater Sydney,” Mr Regan said.
