Mosman local Julie Jennings, a volunteer at Bear Cottage, was honoured with the 2023 Superhero Award during the annual Superhero Week Party.

The event, which celebrates the bravery of children with life-limiting illnesses, marks the launch of Superhero Week, a fundraising appeal for Bear Cottage. This organisation is affiliated with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network and provides respite and end-of-life care to children in NSW and beyond.

NSW Health Minister Ryan Park pledged $25,000 during the event to support the launch of Superhero Week and presented the Superhero Awards for 2023 to Julie Jennings.

Julie has been volunteering at Bear Cottage for eight years. She regularly visits the institution to offer support to families, whether through conversations with parents or by engaging and entertaining the children.

The Superhero Week is held from 23 to 29 July and aims to raise $250,000 in essential funds for Bear Cottage, enabling them to continue providing services and care to children and their families.
