Ausgrid has pulled the plug on a proposed community battery for Green Park in Cammeray, following a negative response from locals.

The move follows a community consultation in April, with a large number of residents ‘angered’ by the proposal for such a large structure on public green space.

Council’s sustainability officers had initially raised concerns as to whether the proposed locations were appropriate, given the Warringah Freeway Upgrade and Western Harbour Tunnel early works had already resulted in a significant loss of public open space.

Ausgrid are working to identify new sites for the battery within Cammeray and will consult North Sydney Council on new options.
