Australian star acts promise an unforgettable month of music and entertainment under the stars for Twilight at Taronga 2025

The excitement in David Campbell’s voice is contagious. After 22 years, David will once again play at Taronga Zoo Sydney, ready to pour heart and soul into his performance as part of the Twilight at Taronga 2025 Summer Concert Series starting in February.

David is one of Australia’s biggest stars on stage and screen, and he promises to get the audience ‘partying and rocking’ his new show ‘Good Lovin’ and More,’ celebrating songs of soul, swing and the 1960s.

“I didn’t know what I was doing back then,” laughs David, reflecting on his earlier show back in 2002. Now aged 51, the musician says he is excited to be back on the harbourside stage, this time with more experience, nine albums and after touring with his band for the last year and a half. “We’ve got something really special,” he adds.

“We’re not doing deep, thought-provoking stuff here,” David explains with characteristic charm. “We’re here to make you forget your troubles and just have a party.”

The multi-platinum artist, who juggles his musical career with co-hosting duties on the Nine Network’s Today Extra, sees the entire Twilight series as unique. “It’s quite a unicorn,” he says. “You can take a family to see shows like mine, or if you’ve got young kids they can go see Emma Memma, or if you’ve got teenagers, they can go see DMA’S. And that’s probably the only unicorn you’ll find in Taronga Zoo on those nights,” he adds with a twinkle.

David has followed in the footsteps of father Jimmy Barnes, frontman of Cold Chiesel, and just like his famous dad he loves performing. “There’s nothing more thrilling than being on stage and commanding a crowd, taking them on a journey of music and emotion or just utter abandon,” the father of three explains.

David and his seven-piece band will also perform material from his multi-platinum The Swing Sessions albums, including classic Johnny O’Keefe and Dream Lover Bobby Darin hits.

“If you’re a fan of old-school rock and roll and soul music with a little bit of theatre thrown in, come along, sing at the top of your lungs, dance, bring the family, have a few laughs, and watch the sun go down over beautiful Sydney Harbour.”

For the younger audience, Lil’ Twilight is back, with former Wiggles singer Emma Memma performing on 22 February. Tickets to Lil’ Twilight also include free entry to explore Taronga Zoo on the same day as the show.

The Twilight series will be kicking off with the raw and powerful energy of DMA’S on 7 February, and things will wrap up on 8 March with the annual favourites Bjorn Again, who continue to bring the disco hits year after year.

Laughter will also be present at the series with the Comedy Gala on 15 February, featuring the finest and funniest comedians in a blockbuster two-hour comedy extravaganza, including Joel Creasey, Georgie Carroll (UK), Dave Thornton and Bron Lewis.

Come along and enjoy a concert – or two – and make the most of a Sydney summer filled with live music at a unique location, incredible views, and a line-up that has something for everyone.

Proceeds contribute to Taronga Zoo’s new Wildlife Hospital. For more information, tickets and the full program, visit twilightattaronga.org.au
