Electric vehicle owners now have more options to charge their cars, with 60 new grant-funded charging stations being installed in North Sydney Council car parks this winter.

The chargers can be found in car parks in North Sydney, Kirribilli, Cammeray, Wollstonecraft, Cremorne and Crows Nest – including a super site on Holtermann Street where up to 26 vehicles can charge at once.

With a mix of ultra-rapid DC, rapid DC and fast AC charging, electric vehicle (EV) drivers will find a charging station that suits their needs. Payment is accepted via contactless or via charge point operator mobile apps.

The North Sydney local government area was identified as having a significant need for public EV charging, with many residents not having access to off-street parking. This rollout will help to address that need.

“Many North Sydney residents want to embrace electric vehicles. These new chargers provide the vital charging infrastructure people need to take that step and transition to an electric vehicle,” said North Sydney Mayor Zoë Baker. “More electric vehicles on our roads mean lower emissions, better air quality, and a cleaner future.”

Three charge point operators (NRMA, Evie and ChargePost) last year received co-funding to install the EV chargers in the North Sydney car parks, from the NSW Government’s electric vehicle kerbside charging grants (round 1) and fast charging grants programs.

Please note that ChargePost chargers need BYO charging cables.
