At about 1am on 17 August, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command were called to Lake Park Road, North Narrabeen, following reports of two men fighting.

Upon arrival, officers found a 20-year-old man in the middle of the Narrabeen lagoon, with NSW Ambulance called to assist. It is understood the man was non-compliant during the process of taking him out of the water, and allegedly ‘‘spat’’ and ‘‘threat’’ one of the officers.

The man was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital before he was transferred to Manly Police Station.

He was charged with assault of a police officer in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm and with intimidate a police officer in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on 21 August.

Police will allege in court the man spat on a constable’s face and made threats towards him.
