The Lower North Shore Greens have selected their next candidate, Edmund McGrath to run for Willoughby in the upcoming NSW State election.
According to the Greens, sustainable development will be a key issue in Willoughby, as will education, which is an area Mr McGrath is understood to have extensive knowledge and experience in.
Currently working as an urban planner, the Cremorne local says he is passionate about improving neighbourhoods and creating sustainable green spaces, holding a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Sydney.
It is believed another area of focus for this campaign will be health, which Mr McGrath has also worked in.
Throughout his life Mr McGrath has worked with the Australian League of Immigration Volunteers to International Humanity Foundation and Refugees International Japan.
In the upcoming campaign, Mr McGrath claims he will look to promote greater and more equitable care for the Lower North Shore health system.
“Sadly, I have seen loved ones crippled by illness both of body and mind, and I am not alone,” said Mr McGrath.
“Mental health needs public funding, and GPs and specialists need to be more accessible through the public system.”
“The young are our children and the old are our parents; we need a caring society that invests in those who have so much to achieve, and those who have achieved so much,” he said.
