IN FOCUS: A CENTENARY CELEBRATION AT NORTHBRIDGE BATHS

The Northbridge Baths is marking a major milestone during this year’s Emerge Festival, with its 100th anniversary celebrations on Saturday, 12 October. The centenary party is an essential event for this year’s festival and promises to be a memorable occasion that includes activities for families and fitness enthusiasts as well as local history buffs.

The celebrations will open with a special cake-cutting ceremony featuring a custom Northbridge Baths birthday cake, while a 1920’s swing band transports attendees back in time as they learn about the baths’ history from a large display showing the facility’s 100-year evolution.

Following upgrades to the baths in 2022 that improved accessibility for users of all ages, this event certainly has something for everyone. Attendees are encouraged to use public transport or park in nearby streets and take a free shuttle bus that loops between the baths and Northbridge Plaza.

SAY “HI” TO LOCAL TREES THIS SPRING

This spring, we’re inviting residents to get outdoors and get to know some of our local trees through guided tree walks, immersing in a tree art exhibition or discovering our “tree trails”.

Visit The Concourse Art Space to view the Sacred Grove in Your Street art exhibition from 17 October—a thought-provoking exhibition of the majesty and diversity of urban trees.

On 27 October and 1 November, join a free guided walk in the heart of Chatswood which will open your eyes to the trees that live in our city environment.

Or explore at your own pace our two tree trails at Hallstrom Park and the nearby Willoughby streets. Follow the map and spot the “tree tags” that detail each tree’s unique attributes like how much oxygen they produce each year.

Visit willoughby.nsw.gov.au/environment to learn more about trees in the Willoughby Local Government Area.
