Willoughby-Lane Cove State Emergency Service (SES) Unit is gearing up for Wear Orange Wednesday or ‘WOW Day’ on 17 May to celebrate the incredible contribution of the SES volunteers across NSW.

Member for Willoughby Tim James said, “SES volunteers are the unsung heroes of the community who unselfishly give their time and effort to assist during times of crisis such as floods, storm events, and road crash rescues.”

Mr James is inviting the community to wear an item of orange clothing to show support for these local legends on that day.

“WOW Day is an opportunity for the community to express gratitude to the SES volunteers who put their lives on the line and deserve to be acknowledged, recognized, and thanked for their efforts.”

The National Volunteer Week is run from 15 to 21 May to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary efforts of almost six million volunteers across Australia.
