North Shore MP Felicity Wilson is asking residents to nominate an inspiring woman in their lives for the North Shore Woman of the Year for 2026, to be recognised at a statewide reception held in Women’s Week in March 2026.
This annual award has recognised women who have made a difference across our community – with the 2026 recipient the tenth to be awarded by Ms Wilson and the NSW Office of Women.
“Every day across our community, women are champions in the not-for-profit, business, government and community sectors,” said Ms Wilson.
“They are driving our grassroots sporting organisations for thousands of local kids, making scientific breakthroughs to improve public health, advocating on issues local and global to create a better world for us all.”
“I’m looking for female community champions to be nominated – women that have a track record of bringing positive change to our everyday lives.
“The nominee could be a friend, work colleague, or even a relative.”
Former principal of secondary girls’ colleges, Dr Anne Ireland was recognised as the North Shore Woman of the Year for 2025 for her contributions to education, charity fundraising and advocacy for young women.
Dr Ireland is now encouraging all community residents to nominate others for the next North Shore Woman of the Year.
“I was both delighted and honoured to be chosen as North Shore Woman of the Year for 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony at the ICC,” Dr Ireland said.
“Being selected as the North Shore Woman of the Year from such a capable group of nominees felt very special and is something I will always treasure.”
