The Bus Industry Taskforce is starting face-to-face consultations in areas across Sydney, including the Northern Beaches.
The taskforce members will meet interested local residents at Dee Why RSL on Saturday 24 June.
Parliamentary Secretary for Transport Marjorie O’Neil will chair the Bus Passenger Forums, which aim to engage members of the public, community groups, local businesses, and non-government organisations in the dialogue.
In response to the pressing issue of a shortage of bus drivers, the NSW Government has taken immediate action to address the problem and increase the availability of bus services.
Some of the proposed changes include waiving the $70 application fee for driver authority for the next 12 months and streamlining the application process by implementing electronic processing of documents.
To address the workforce shortages, the Bus Industry Taskforce is organising an urgent roundtable discussion in June. This gathering will allow current operators, drivers, and industry representatives to contribute practical solutions.
