Walk, jog or run! All styles are welcome at the Beach2Beach Charity Fun Run and Festival on 27 August.

Come along with your friends or family and participate in the 29th running of the Beach2Beach. There are many courses to choose from, with the fittest challenged to tackle the 13km course, which stretches from Dee Why Beach to Newport Beach, offering runners breathtaking views.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Warringah, Beach2Beach Charity Fun Run and Festival has become a tradition that brings together fitness enthusiasts, families, and the local community to support fabulous charities. This year’s event promises to be a day filled with excitement, scenic beauty, and heartfelt generosity.

Participants can choose from three course options. From serious runners seeking a challenge to families looking for an enjoyable outing, the event caters to all ages and fitness levels. The 13km course stretches from Dee Why Beach to Newport Beach. Meanwhile, the 6km course from Warriewood to Newport Beach and the 3km course from Mona Vale to Newport Beach.

One of the organisers, Robert van Geest, said they expect around 5,000 participants this year.

“It’s a beautiful run along the beaches. And there are bands on the way for entertainment. And at the end, there’s a big festival with food, entertainment, and live music. It’s a nice day out for people,” Robert says.

To inject a little bit of healthy competition, the run includes prizes for the participants in various categories, including Weird and Wackiest Dressed. This year’s winner will be selected on the day by race organisers. Winners from the main competitions will nominate their favourite charity to receive funds from the run.

The Beach2Beach Family Festival promises an array of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. There will be international food options and refreshments in the licensed bar area, offering a well-deserved respite after the exhilarating run while kids enjoy the fun rides and games specially curated for them.

Since its creation, this event has raised over $3.5 million for various local charities, including Life Education Australia, Northern Beaches Interchange (NBI), Surf Life Saving Northern Beaches, Without A Ribbon, Bear Cottage, OneEighty, and Sunnyfield, organisations that play a vital role in supporting the community.

The race starts at 8am, but Robert recommends people come in about half an hour before. “We have entertainment at the start and gyms will do a warmup, so they entertain attendees and do some exercise with them to warm up for the race.”

Participants are advised to wear sunscreen and a hat, even though the race is early in August. “We also encourage people to bring their own water bottles. There will be water stations on the way for people to use them. If they bring their bottles, there will be less waste,” Robert explained.

Beach2Beach provides an opportunity for individuals to stay active and experience the beauty of the Northern Beaches while raising money for great community causes. So don’t wait any longer! Save the day and register now for this Northern Beaches tradition.
