The weather is warming up, so the first waves of Council lifeguard patrols have begun to hit the stand, starting with Freshwater and Dee Why Beaches last weekend.

Manly flies the flags all year and the rest of the patrolled beaches from Manly to Palm Beach will kick off at the end of September, so there’s plenty of safe swimming ahead for everyone ahead, so don’t fret if you’re not nearby.

With over 14 million visits to our beautiful beaches every year, the Northern Beaches are at the heart of Sydney’s outdoor lifestyle. Last season alone, the lifeguard team carried out over 300,000 preventative actions, handled over 8,000 first aid cases and made more than 1000 rescues – keeping everyone safe and sound while they soaked up the outdoor fun.

While the Council lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers are always ready to jump into action in an emergency, please remember to swim between the flags, listen to lifeguard advice, and help make this season a safe and unforgettably fun one.
