An elderly man has been transported to hospital suffering serious burns following a house fire in Frenchs Forest on 1 October.
The man self-evacuated from the home in BlueGum Crescent around 4.00am where a fire had started and taken hold. He knocked on a neighbour’s door who called Triple Zero (000) and provided initial care until NSW Ambulance arrived.
The man suffered serious burns to his face, hands and airway. Upon arrival, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews observed the home totally involved in fire, with flames issuing from the windows and roof.
More than 30 firefighters and seven appliances, including an aerial ladder truck, quickly got to work, attacking the blaze from all sides of the property.
It approximately an hour to contain and extinguish the fire which completely destroyed the house.
Investigations are now underway to determine the cause of the fire.
