To celebrate this year’s Sub Base Platypus Community Day, the Harbour Trust has an exciting treat for visitors – free tours of the historic former gas works, torpedo factory, and submarine base on 16 September.

These 45-minute tours will be guided by experts well-versed in the rich history of this evolving waterfront site.

Visitors embarking on these informative tours will be led through the newly developed Torpedo Factory precinct, where they’ll have the chance to explore a treasure trove of historical artifacts, including a retired Mark VIII torpedo. The tour promises breathtaking views of Neutral Bay, offering a unique perspective on this picturesque part of the world.

Adding to the experience, visitors will also encounter a remarkable three-piece artwork that pays homage to the Indigenous history and heritage of the land, recognising and honouring Country.

This exclusive opportunity to delve into the layered history of Sub Base Platypus promises an engaging and educational experience for all attendees on this special community day.
