Cricket NSW has called on candidates in Warringah to commit to supporting two local community sport infrastructure projects on the Northern Beaches.

The projects, which will see the construction of a new grandstand at Manly Oval and an indoor training facility in Cromer, will cost $5 million. According to Cricket NSW, the project would benefit those currently involved in the Manly Warringah District Cricket Club and Manly Marlins Rugby Club and ‘inspire more people to get involved in sport locally.’

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon said Federal Government support is crucial to infrastructure projects that benefit the people of Warringah and the community on the Northern Beaches.

“The sporting community in Warringah have identified the enormous benefits that the construction of a new grandstand at Manly Oval and an indoor training facility in Cromer would bring the people from the Northern Beaches,” Germon said.

“There are more than 5000 registered cricket participants in the area, including over 2500 junior players, who along with the supporters of these clubs deserve access to quality, modern facilities.

“The health and well-being benefits from sport, whether that be cricket or at multi-purpose facilities like this one, are undeniable, and we call on the candidates in Warringah to commit their support ahead of the election on May 3.
