Your suggestions can help shape a more accessible and inclusive Northern Beaches

Northern Beaches Council is calling on residents, carers, service providers and people living with disability to help shape the future of disability inclusion across our region.

Council is proud to announce the development of its third Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP), building on the successes of previous plans and seeking new opportunities to ensure everyone can live, work and play with dignity and independence on the Northern Beaches.

Mayor Sue Heins said community feedback is crucial in creating a plan that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of all residents.

“We’re committed to ensuring everyone in our community can thrive, and that starts with listening to those with lived experience.

“Your insights will directly inform how we can continue to remove barriers, create more accessible spaces, and foster a culture of inclusion and respect across the Northern Beaches,” Mayor Heins said.”

Since 2016, Council has been dedicated to promoting positive attitudes, delivering accessible facilities and programs, and enhancing employment opportunities for people with disability.

The upcoming DIAP, to be adopted in 2026, will guide Council’s work to create a welcoming and supportive environment for every resident and visitor.

Council encourages anyone with ideas on how to promote accessibility, build skills and social connections, and support community acceptance to participate in the Your Say program.

The community can join the conversation by visiting the Council’s website and providing feedback by Sunday 26 October 2025.
