Four months trial will be given to the new pocket park and shared zone in McMahons Point, at the corner of East Crescent Street and Blues Point Road in North Sydney.
The project is funded through the NSW Government’s Streets as Shared Spaces Program and aims to create a greener and safer area for the community.
Some of the design’s features include a raised continuous footpath to increase pedestrian safety, reduce traffic and ensure no net loss of parking turfed area; sandstone edging along the garden beds; a new community garden; plants including Crepe Myrtle and Chinese Elm trees and shrubs such as Grevillea, Thyme and Gentian Blue Sage.
During trial, North Sydney Council will conduct a Human Movement Study and assess the impact on traffic through a traffic study. This information and any community feedback received by 20 April 2023 will be reported to the council to determine if the project will be permanently implemented.
