Manly Greens are calling for local action in response to the soft plastics recycling on the Northern Beaches.
According to the Greens, a motion, which will be submitted at the 22 November 2022 council meeting, will call for council to investigate immediate actions to facilitate soft plastics recycling.
The call comes after the Greens claim they believe actions could be implemented to facilitate local processing of soft plastics and/or reducing the generation of soft plastics.
Greens Councillor Kristyn Glanville said other local councils such as Hornsby council have already stepped into action by collecting soft plastics through its community recycling centre.
“As a community we should avoid soft plastics as far as possible, but we also need a way to sustainably deal with soft plastics that can’t be avoided, and for those plastics to be reused rather than entering landfill,” said Cr Glanville.
The motion will be debated at the 22 November 2022 meeting of Northern Beaches council.
