Geoff MacGregor, director at Hardware & General in Brookvale, is off to Broken Hill with his son Joshua to take part in the iconic Mystery Box Rally 2025 on 16 August, to raise funds for cancer research.
The duo will be taking on the challenging five-day adventure in their vintage 1999 Ford XH Falcon Panel Van, which has travelled over 330,000 km.
To kick off this extraordinary journey, Geoff & Josh are hosting a Bon Voyage Fundraiser on Friday 8 August from 5 pm at Chubb’s Bar, 79 Winbourne Rd, Brookvale. This event aims to rally community support and raise funds for the Cancer Council. Tickets at $55 include a burger (beef or chicken), fries, two drinks (beer or house wine), a lucky door prize ticket, and a donation to the cause.
You will also get a look at their vintage Falcon and enjoy the Manly rugby game live on the big screen.
The Mystery Box Rally, part of the Box Rallies series, including the Shitbox and Lunchbox Rallies, is an annual event that raises money for cancer research. It attracts around 300 participants who drive older vehicles on a mystery route. Teams must raise a minimum of $4,000, with the overall fundraising goal set at $1.5 million this year.
The 2025 rally begins on 16 August in Broken Hill and will see teams navigate unsealed roads and unknown routes, culminating back in Broken Hill on 20 August.
