But some locals still concerned about traffic
The Boathouse Group, owned by brothers Ben and Jono Isaac, will build a $16 million restaurant at 40 Myoora Road in Terrey Hills, following approval by Sydney North Planning Panel (SNPP) on 15 July.
The single storey venue for 594 patrons – to be known as The Farmhouse Terrey Hills – is about 50% smaller than Boathouse Group’s original 2024 $33 million proposal for three restaurants, with a capacity for 794 patrons and 40 staff. However, some locals are still concerned about the traffic the venue could generate.
“Terrey Hills is fairly unique,” Paul Davenport of Terrey Hills Progress Association told PL. “It’s got limited access roads in and out. And there are some other developments along Myoora Road which have been supported and approved by council.”
Mr Davenport said that the Flower Power and Hills Flower Market developments should have been considered when assessing the Farmhouse proposal, and that there are other lots for sale along Myoora Road.
“We expressed our concerns to council last year and pushed them to do a cumulative impact study on Myoora Road,” said Mr Davenport. “They are doing it, and we expect the results soon.”
Due to concerns raised in some of the submissions, Boathouse Group (BHG) amended its proposal and even though the venue is smaller, the Isaac brothers are happy to have the green light.
“We’re delighted to receive planning approval for The Farmhouse Terrey Hills,” a BHG spokesperson told PL. “This special precinct marks an exciting step beyond our iconic waterfront locations and is set to become a cherished part of the local community for many years to come.”
The new restaurant will contain a bistro and dining area, commercial kitchen, a main bar and terrace area, two terrace areas on the northern end of the building, a lounge, family dining area and children’s playground, and an outdoor dining area. The operating hours approved are 7am to midnight seven days a week. Small ancillary functions are to be permitted, such as birthday parties, indoor live music is to finish by 10pm and all patrons must be off-site by midnight.
The development originally planned for 297 car parking spaces and the onsite car park will now accommodate 211 cars. A planned local shuttle bus service will not proceed.
The Boathouse Group operates 12 venues in NSW, including Barrenjoey House at Palm Beach.
