One of the most picturesque parks on the foreshore of Sydney Harbour is back in local community ownership. The official paperwork was signed to return compulsorily acquired land to the community and create an uninterrupted harbourside park along Blues Point.

Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson MP, said that this major step for Blues Point delivered on her commitment to work alongside the community to acquire 1 Henry Lawson Ave from private ownership as an investment in increasing local parklands.

“Up until now, Blues Point has been split in two by private land, so securing this acquisition and finalising this land transfer is a big win for the local community and visitors to the area,” Ms Wilson said.

Ms Wilson said the building at the location will be demolish for a continuous public access along the foreshore.

The transfer, which has been almost 40 years in the making, will increase local community land ownership by 9.24 hectares.
