A 2013 plan to commercialise Barrenjoey Headland that saw over 9,000 signatures opposing the idea is up for feedback again.

Following the community’s outrage and commitment against the proposal in 2013, it was later announced the proposal would no longer go ahead.

Though, nine years later it appears the Barrenjoey Head lighthouse buildings are again being considered to be transformed into visitor accommodation and community uses.

The consideration comes after the 2022 new Ku-ring-gai Chase national park and island nature reserves draft plan of management was released, discussing short-stay visitor accommodation at the lighthouse keeper’s cottage and the boatman’s cottage.

The 2022 new Ku-ring-gai Chase national park and island nature reserves draft plan of management is open for public consultation until 22 November.
