Don’t miss the 32nd Ocean Festival! The week-long, ocean fuelled festival is happening from Sunday 30 November to Sunday 7 December 2025.
This year’s festival, themed Life Below Water, celebrates the vital role our oceans play in the health of our planet and the unique beauty of the Northern Beaches coastline.
Northern Beaches Mayor Sue Heins said the Ocean Festival is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate its coastal heritage while raising awareness of the importance of ocean conservation.
“Our oceans cover 71% of the Earth’s surface and provide around 50% of the oxygen we breathe. They’re critical to the wellbeing of our planet and our local lifestyle,” Mayor Heins said.
“The Ocean Festival is a fantastic chance for everyone – whether you’re a long-time ocean lover or just curious – to get involved, learn something new and help keep our marine environments thriving.”
The 2025 program will include a wide range of exciting events and activities such as the popular Underwater Photography Exhibition, marine talks, volunteering meet ups, rock platform rambles and much more.
There will be something for all ages and interests, from families with young children to seasoned ocean enthusiasts.
“Whether you want to learn more about our unique marine life, connect with other nature lovers, or simply enjoy the beauty of our coastline, there’s something for everyone at the Ocean Festival,” Mayor Heins said. “We can’t wait to welcome you all for another fantastic week of ocean-inspired fun and learning.”
Northern Beaches Council has 5 marine protected areas, with amazing biodiversity below the waves and remarkable rock platforms to explore.
