From 12 Noon on Sunday 26 October, Collaroy Tennis Club and Evolve Tennis Academy are hosting a major community event as part of Tennis Australia’s ‘All Abilities Week’ – and Wheelchair Tennis Legend, David Hall, OAM will be on hand to open the event!

All Abilities Week is a dedicated moment in the tennis calendar to raise the profile, awareness and opportunities for the 5.5 million Australians living with disability. Collaroy and Evolve are collectively committed to embracing diversity by making the sport welcoming, safe and inclusive for all, demonstrating that tennis is for ‘Every Body’.

Club Inclusion Officer, Dave Keogh, said: Our inaugural All Abilities Week is further evidence that Collaroy Tennis Club is committed to providing a friendly, fun and above all inclusive place, in which to play our beautiful sport. We welcome our local community to come along and have a hit, mixing in with players of all abilities.”

Apart from the presence of Paralympic Gold Medalist and six-time World Champion, David Hall, the event at Collaroy Tennis Club will feature former Touring Pro, Grand Slam Semi-Finalist, Davis Cup Captain and TV Commentator Wally Masur who will conduct a ‘fireside chat’ with David. Also attending will be the current World No. 1 female Blind & Low Vision player, Grace Hobbs, two current ITF world-ranked Wheelchair Tennis players in Hayley Slocombe and Sheridan Brown and the current Oceania Para-Standing Tennis Champion, Michele Windsor.

The event will feature exhibitions and coaching sessions across various disciplines including:

  • Wheelchair Tennis – exhibitions, opportunity to try tennis in a chair and Club Championships
  • Intellectual Disabilities and Autism – coaching session for children up to 12 years old… open to the public
  • Blind and Low Vision Tennis – exhibition and organised social tennis
  • Para-Standing Tennis – exhibition and organised social tennis

There will also be Social Tennis available for all attendees, a book signing with David Hall personally dedicating copies of his new book ‘Superbeast’, a classic Bunnings BBQ, face painting for kids, music and more. The event is free and open to everyone. Several local dignitaries have already accepted invitations to attend.
