Two men have been questioned and released following an alleged threatening gesture outside Cremorne Synagogue on 7 October.

About 9.55am on 7 October, police were called to Yeo Street, Cremorne after a man was observed to allegedly point what was believed to be a firearm from a moving truck towards the synagogue.

About 11.30am officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command arrested two men on Raglan Street, Mosman.

The passenger of the truck, a 23-year-old man, was taken to Chatswood Police Station where he assisted with inquiries. However, he has since been released pending further inquiries.

The driver, a 21-year-old man, was released pending further inquiries.

Officers attached to Raptor, the dog unit and traffic and highway patrol assisted in the search for the alleged firearm, however, nothing was located.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Bradfield MP Nicolette Boele released a statement about the alleged incident, saying she was ‘deeply disturbed.’ “This is distressing at any time, but especially troubling (on October 7, two years since) attacks by Hamas, where hostages were taken and remain held. It is a day that remains deeply painful for many in our community,” Ms Boele said.
