Celebrate all things local at this action-packed event

The Festival of Mosman is back from 23 October to 2 November – an action-packed 11-day celebration of everything that makes this suburb special.

The festival features almost 80 events, including favourites hosted by Mosman Council, as well as community-led programs, activities and showcases by local businesses.

“The festival is a wonderful way to bring council, the community and local business together to stage a fantastic program of events that everyone in our community can enjoy,” Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber said.

“It’s a chance to showcase the best of our beautiful suburb, with many of the events held in our stunning outdoor spaces.

“It also offers a wonderful opportunity for local businesses to participate and promote the vibrant village atmosphere that residents and visitors love about Mosman,” she added.

This year’s festival kicks off with the bustling SpringFeast night market, on Thursday 23 October from 4.30pm to 9pm, along The Crescent and flowing through to Mosman Square and Village Green. The event is proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program in association with Mosman Council.

On Friday 24 October, officers and sailors of HMAS Penguin will conduct a freedom of entry parade, with members of the public invited to line the streets for this centuries-old tradition, which symbolises trust and respect between the navy and community. Accompanied by the Royal Australian Navy Band, the parade starts at 11.30am from Prince Albert Street, along Military Road into Gouldsbury Street, and along The Crescent to the Mosman War Memorial.

You won’t want to miss dinner on the green on Friday evening – an authentic three course Italian feast prepared by
Fourth Village Providore in an intimate setting under the stars on the Village Green from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. There will be live entertainment too. This highly sought after event sells out fast.

Middle Head Road will come alive on Saturday 25 October from 5pm to 9pm, with a two-day street party offering tasty eats, live music and free family-friendly activities.

On Sunday 26 October, from 11am to 4pm, there’s a concert with performances from local schools and community groups, and a show-stopping set by the Royal Australian Navy Band.

Moviegoers can get into the spooky spirit at Halloween cinema under the stars on Friday 31 October from 7pm to 9.30pm and enjoy pre-movie entertainment, snacks and pizza before a screening of the classic Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit.

Then on Saturday 1 November, as the sun sets over Headland Park, stories will come alive from 4pm to 8pm, through art, music and culture. Whale Song, a magical interactive outdoor theatre procession, will celebrate the seasonal humpback whale migration. The event will also feature live sand painting by First Nations’ artist Walangari Karntawarra and a Bush to Bowl cooking demonstration.

The festival will end on a ‘paw-fect’ note with the much-loved pet’s day out at Mosman Square and Village Green on Sunday 2 November from 10am to 2pm. It’ll be a ‘paw-some’ day for pets and their people, hosted by Farmer Dave Graham, with entertainment from Dr Katrina Warren and the Wonderdogs, plus a DOGA class by Rancan Sisters Fitness, animal-themed market stalls, a petting zoo, reptile display – and maybe even a unicorn!
