There was a phenomenal turnout for the South Curl Curl Ocean Swim on 13 April, with more than 240 swimmers participating.
The course takes swimmers from the surf at South Curl Curl, south along the headland, and then into Freshwater Beach. The sun shone and the water was warm.
Mika Stockdale and John De Mestre were the fastest swimmers on the day, with Jensen Goodchild, Michael Kaine, Jane Hinton, and Jacinta Perry also putting in exceptionally fast swims.
South Curl Curl Surf Life Saving Club (SCCSLSC) president Mathew Campbell said the ocean swim was a great way for new swimmers to try their hand at ocean swimming in a safe environment while enjoying the gorgeous coastline.
“For all of us at the Club, it was an excuse to fire up the barbie and welcome hundreds of new faces to our beach,” Mr Campbell said.
“Dozens of volunteers turned out to help, and they made the morning a wonderful experience.”
