The Eramboo Artist Environment in Terrey Hills has announced Susie Dureau as their artist-in-residence for 2025.

The six-month residency is taken on as a joint initiative between Eramboo and the Northern Beaches council, offering free non-residential studio space, a $3000 allowance for materials and support towards an exhibition or public outcome.

Susie Dureau’s artistic practice focuses on the relationships between humans and the natural world, with an emphasis on sensory engagement as a way of understanding these connections. She works across various mediums, including oil painting, spectrogram collages, and light installations, to explore the unseen forces and entangled systems that influence human existence. Recently, Susie has incorporated earth pigments and traditional Western painting techniques into her work, blending tactile materiality with technological approaches to investigate the interactions between human-made and natural processes.

During her residency at Eramboo, Susie intends to engage in mentorship collaborations, exchanging knowledge and skills with other artists. This exchange aims to enhance her practice and contribute to a broader conversation about art and ecology. Additionally, she plans to explore new possibilities involving paint, sound, light, and the natural environment. The residency will culminate in an exhibition at the Eramboo Gallery later this year.
