Narrabeen performer Prinnie Stevens brings the festive season to life, complete with snow!
Something very special is coming to Sydney this December, and it’s a celebration of all things festive.
The Christmas Spectacular, starring Narrabeen local, singer Prinnie Stevens, will come to the State Theatre in Sydney from 20 to 22 December, bringing something for the whole family.
Magician and illusionist Michael Boyd of Australia’s Got Talent fame will also star, along with a host of dancers performing a tribute to the Radio City Rockettes, The Nutcracker and more.
“I’m very much about moving people with music and Christmas is the best time to do it,” Prinnie says. Prinnie may seem familiar as she was a finalist on The Voice in 2012.
Prinnie has worked alongside magician Michael and choreographer Michael Browning to bring this special show to life for the third year running. “This is my new Christmas tradition,” she says of the spectacular, which will also tour to other capital cities. Prinnie describes it as ‘a huge Christmas celebration for the whole family, from grandma to the kids.’
“I do all of the Christmas carols, as many as I can fit in there,” she says, adding that she will only be singing songs people know, because ‘this has to be somewhat of a sing-a-long because that’s what Christmas is about.’
And Prinnie’s preferred Christmas carol? “They’re like children, you don’t have a favourite!” she says. “But I always love Silent Night.”
Prinnie says she’s looking forward to the spectacular starting as she’ll get to ‘live out my Mariah Carey fantasy.’
The show will also contain a few surprises. “It snows at one point,” she shares. “There’s a possibility that Santa might come. But in Sydney, on the 20-something of December, no one’s thinking there’s going to be snow!
“So it’s an incredible surprise and just to see the little kids look up in absolute awe and wonder really is magical.”
Michael will perform some of his greatest illusions in the show along with incredible magic with a Christmas twist. There will also be some amazing Australian showgirls on stage, many of whom have performed at the Moulin Rouge in Paris and appeared in other world-famous cabaret revues. The crowd will see a little bit of circus too.
Having the show at the State Theatre, in the heart of the decorated city, adds to the magic. “It’s so much fun,” Prinnie says. “It’s a really wholesome way to celebrate Christmas with the whole family.”
