A man was arrested on 16 October at around 7am following reports of a car blocking the driveway of a Balgowlah home.

Police arrived to find a 28-year-old man from Fresh Forest asleep at the wheel. Police suspected he was under the influence of a drug and tried to wake him up. The man engages in a ‘violent struggle’ after seeing himself surrounded by officers.

The man was restrained and arrested after the struggle.

Police confirmed that the car was stolen from Freshwater two days prior. The French Forest local was taken to the Manly Police Station and charged with hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner and posses hosebreaking implements among other charges.

He appeared at the Manly court on 24 October and pleaded guilty to all the offices. The man will remain in custody until receiving his sentence on 5 December.

Enquiries will continue into further drug-related charges.
