wo people have been charged following an investigation into an alleged suspicious fire on Cromer last year, under Strike Force Syringa.

About 10pm Sunday 2 April 2023, emergency services were called to Fisher Road North, Cromer, following reports of a vehicle fire.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command found a parked truck well alight.

NSW Fire and Rescue crews attended and extinguished the blaze, but the truck was destroyed.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 21-year-old man in Wauchope on 14 October.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station, where he was charged with damage property by fire/explosive over $15,000.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court on  27 November.

Following further inquiries, a 38-year-old woman was arrested at Cromer on 16 October 2024.

She was taken to Manly Police Station, where she was charged with dishonestly for gain damage property by fire/ explosive.

She was refused bail to appear before Manly Local Court on 17 October.
