Winter is here, and there are plenty of activities to keep you and your kids entertained in the July school holidays.

CARTOONING, CRAFT AND MOVIES AT MOSMAN

From 9 July | Free | Barry O’Keefe Library, Mosman

You don’t need to go far or spend any money to bring out the artist in your children at the Creation Space at Barry O’Keefe Library.

Get your kids to explore the art of cartooning and doodle their way to greatness! These workshops, divided by age group, will run on 15 July. Bookings are required.

They can also come on 11 and 18 July to the Make and Take Crafternoons from 2pm; or get them to embrace the Olympic spirit by designing their own Olympic medals on a two-day workshop starting on 9 July.

On 8 July the Taronga Zoomobile team will visit the library, giving visitors the chance to get an up-close look at some of Australia’s wildlife. It’s suitable for children aged five to 12.

There’s even something for young movie lovers! On 12 July, bring your favourite snacks and a blanket and relax from 10am to 11.30am with a fun, G-rated, family-friendly movie on the big screen! Or be part of the Robo-Olympics Relay Races between 10am and 12pm on 17 July.

For more information, activities and bookings, visit the events tab on the Mosman Council website.

GETTING WILD

From 8 July | $75 | Taronga Zoo

Are you looking to unleash your child’s wild side this winter? Taronga Zoo will once again hold its school holiday program, ‘Zoo Adventures’, a unique opportunity to meet zoo inhabitants through animal-themed activities. For more information, visit taronga.org.au

SPORTS, CRAFTS AND FUN, JUST A CLICK AWAY

8 to 22 July | $70 per day | PCYC North Sydney

PCYC North Sydney runs a variety of safe, fun, creative and inclusive school holiday activities for children aged five to 12 that will suit everybody.

Soccer, dodgeball and basketball are on offer. There’s even something for those wanting to explore their ninja warrior side!

The sky will be the limit as children enjoy making great creations from LEGO. They can also participate in a scavenger hunt with other participants, or have a blast while dressed for comfort at the Pyjama Day and Disco.

Visit the PCYC North Sydney website for more information or to book online.

GET OUT IN NATURE

From 8 July | Free | Willoughby Area

Willoughby City Council offers a wide variety of free activities for both primary school and high school students to experience the natural world.

Book your spot for fun guided bushwalks and outdoor learning experiences, like a night walk to spy on the local nocturnal wildlife in Northbridge, or the preschooler tree discovery walk in Artarmon.

You can also end the school holidays and the month by making your green thumb shine greener on 28 July and celebrate National Tree Day by planting native plants at Muston Park, Chatswood. Local residents will be given native plants to take home as gifts.

To learn more and to register, visit the events calendar on the Willoughby Council website.
